Osian Site Seeing
Osian is 65 kms North West of Jodhpur is an ancient town in the Thar Desert once flourishing trade center till 12th century was a part of silk route, today it is the largest market of dry vegetables. Osian was once scared centre of Hinduism & Jainism. It is birth place of Oswal 
community in Jainism. Osian is known for its magnificent and beautiful structural design of Hindu and Jain temples built from 8 – 12 century. Temples of Hari Hara, (Combination of Lord Vishnu & Shiva) series, Jain Temple, Sun Temple and Sachiya Mata’s Temple are spectacular in their originality of composition and sculptured elegance. The vase and flower motif carved on pillar are best seen here. A few temples that remain are the last remnants of this ancient citadel of faith. It an example not uncommon in India of a considerable city whose substance has departed and only sprit remains.
If you can make to desert then don’t get dishearten, the town of osian invite’s you to explore it dunes. Best way to explore desert is on a camel back and at time of sun set. Panoramic view of dunes when they turn golden colors during sun set. You can stay there overnight in camps and enjoy dances & music performed by local artist. Even if you make a day return trip to Osian, camel ride and lunch could be arranged.
